Oakley Gascan sunglasses are a common pair, selling for just under $200 depending on where you buy them. There are a ton of color options, but I was actually gifted a pair with the Matte Black Camo frames and Prizm Deep Water Polarized lenses. There is definitely a Gascan variation for you, as there are 36 color options on Amazon.
Fun fact: Ryan Reynolds wears a custom black pair of Oakley Gascan sunglasses in the movie Free Guy.
I have seen it in Prizm…
Prizm makes everything look better, not sure why or how, but it does. From the grass to the sky, even on an ugly day, these sunglasses make everything look better. My old Fuel Cell Prizm sunglasses got me hooked, and even though other polarized lenses are good in this price range, I think Prizm lenses are the best.
If you work outside, then I highly recommend these! They are lightweight, much lighter than I remember the Fuel Cells being – although I may be wrong as I’m not comparing them side by side.
Why I Like My Oakley Gascan Sunglasses:
- Made in the USA
- Prizm lenses
- They are bulletproof and great for an active person to wear while working, running, hiking, or whatever it is you like to do outside
- Oakley Gascan’s are also very lightweight and comfortable, so you barely notice them
- They look great, even after all they’ve been through!
oakley gascan sunglasses From 2005 to now
Oakley released the Gascan sunglasses in 2005 and they have since become a top-selling pair, as they are one of the most affordable options from the brand. If you don’t care for Prizm, you can get a pair for around $100. However, I would definitely pay extra for the Prizm lenses.
Since 2005, there have been more than a hundred color options hit the market, and it’s safe to say they are one of the most common pairs of Oakley sunglasses you will see people wearing.
These square-edged frames were released at a time when more rounded designs were popular, especially Ray-Ban Wayfarers. So Oakley definitely went against the grain and took a risk! It’s safe to say it paid off well.
Are They Durable?
Yes! There are many reviews online from folks who have tested the durability of the Gascan frames, and one or two even survived getting run over with a car!
